The Art of Shodo, Japanese Calligraphy Experience
The art of shodo (Japanese calligraphy) remains a traditional part of Japanese culture. An ink-dipped brush is used artistically to write kanji (Chinese characters) and Japanese kana characters. It is nowadays not just a form of art to be admired, people use it to write New Year’s greeting cards, and in other situations in their daily lives.
In the workshop, guests are instructed on how to write with the brush, and also learn the kanji to write their names. The writings can be taken home as a souvenir.
