It has been a tradition in Japan to display dolls with kabuto (helmet) and yoroi (armor) to celebrate the birth of boys and to wish for their strong and healthy growth, on the Boy’s Festival (also called Children’s Day), May 5.
Until the Edo Period, kabuto and yoroi were thought to be important armors for protection, however, after Edo period, these were displayed to protect boys from calamity. Nowadays, it is also to wish for boys’ blessed life and good luck with education, employment, marriage and more.
At the Shiba Park Hotel, a doll of boy wearing yoroi and kabuto will be displayed to wish for all guests of ours to have a safe, enjoyable and memorable stay with us.
